Help!

It's getting down the wire, everyone. With so many terrible disasters in the news, it's hard to really get a feel for what's happening all over the world. Well this is what's happening: the earthquake in Pakistan on October 8th, it's killed almost 80,000 people according to local officals. 80, 000. I live in a town of 40,000 people. 80,000 people gone would be my entire city, and the neighboring cities as well. All gone. It's scary, and it's just a little overwhelming to think about. But they desperately need help. A lot of people are still stranded without help up in the Himalayas because of all the landslides and aftershocks that have been going on, and helicopters are the only way to get up to them. But the money is running out. The U.N.'s money is almost gone- they're using everything they got, and they said they can only keep the helicopters flying for another week. A week! That means that those helicopters will have to get food and clothing and medical help to 2.3 million people...in a week. Unless we get supersonic helicopters, I'm not thinking its going to happen. In Geneva, donor nations pledged $580 million dollars for the relief, but so far only around 20% has actually got there, a lot slower than the relief efforts for the terrible tsunami last year. The point is, they need help. Lots of it. And even if it's 5 dollars or 5 thousand dollars, it's desperately needed. So basically what I'm asking is for people to help. I feel like it's kinda been forgotten, this earthquake, and people are just moving steadily away from it. But we can't. Not until those people get some help. So please just think about it, ok?
